Please let us know if you would like to offer a skillshare session or other help on the day. So far we have received the following offers and suggestions ~
- Teaching about Sustainability in the outdoors ~ try out some simple activities and games, and help to develop more for various client groups as part of FSW Climate Change project.
- Sustainable cooking and eating at Forest School ~ Why is it better to cook soup than bring a packed lunch? Try a range of campfire cooking techniques and share some Wildfood for the ultimate in low carbon eating.
- Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship ~ what is it and how can we deliver it at Forest School?
- Journey Sticks ~ explore the woodland and learn how to adapt this popular activity for special needs students
- Crafts, songs and activities themed around moles, owls, seasons etc; based on a resource pack developed with Tir Morfa pupils
- Other drop in or led activities eg ~ matchless firelighting, tin can charcoal-making, string making, felt making, Make your own Forest School abacus.
About the VenueGo to top
Pengwern College is a new venue for FSW, and we are very grateful to Mencap and staff at the college for letting us use their grounds. The Forest School site is in the old piggery adjacent to a small mature area of woodland and is used by students from Pengwern College and pupils from Tir Morfa Special School.
The site has a flush toilet, good wheelchair access and plenty of car parking. There is space for camping in a field adjacent to the woods.
The sessions will all be outside or under tarpaulin cover, so you’ll need to dress appropriately!
